The Clinical Scientist Track Regenerative Medicine offers novel therapeutic opportunities for many medical and clinical disciplines. The BSRT research projects of the clinical scientist will aim towards the translation of scientific discoveries into therapeutic approaches in the four clinical fields of Regenerative Therapies dealing with the immune, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and nervous systems. During this five year program the clinical scientists will gain their qualification as a medical specialist in a medical field such as orthopaedics, traumatology, haematology, nephrology or any other field. In the first three the clinical scientist will participate in the education program of the BSRT to get insights into the biological processes and engineering aspects of Regenerative Therapies. In the first two years they will mainly work in the clinic to gain experience in e.g. trauma and reconstructive surgery, orthopaedics, transplantation or any other field of surgery. They will rotate in the second year through the different research institutes to gain insights into the projects and facilities which will help them to design their own research concept that will be closely linked to the clinical problems they encountered during their training period in the hospital. The third year is dedicated to their research work in the BSRT laboratories in collaboration with selected institutes or clinics. The clinical scientist will return to the clinic in the forth and fifth year and work part time on their research project in the laboratories.
