Personal Development and Career Coaching Print

A mentoring committee consisting of the two supervisors from different disciplines and a third mentor from academia or industry will guide each student through their PhD project. In the first half year students will prepare a project proposal which will be discussed with the mentoring committee. Progress reports will be written and discussed at least once a year (although the aspiration is twice yearly) with the mentoring committee meeting. In the beginning of third year students will draft a personal career opportunity and strategy assessment plan under the guidance of their mentoring committee to look beyond the times at the BSRT when they will enter their professional career.

Experienced female scientists will be available to support female fellows, helping them to integrate their gender-specific needs with their career in science. The goal is to overcome current trends and keep young female researchers in the sciences.

Representatives from industry can be also selected as a mentor for a mentoring committee. Students will benefit from this contact to industry in respect to their personal career development and it provides excellent career opportunities for students who aim for a career path outside academia.
